LARCAP - IMPORTING THE FINEST WINE AND ALCOHOL

LarCap is committed to become Best-in-class also when it comes to implementing the most up to date sustainability tools and requirements in the entire supply chain with a focus on continuous improvement in order to empower all of our suppliers to respect the three core elements below in a transparent manner.

Transport and logistics
We are committed to reduce our carbon footprint by 50% within 2030 in order to respect the goals set out in the Paris Agreement, and we will achieve this by focusing on optimising the entire supply chain to achieve efficiency gains and reduce waste by optimising transports, encouraging the use of lighter weight packaging, more use of recycled and recyclable materials as a beginning.

Human rights
LarCap is working in accordance with the principles outlined in the Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) which enables us to focus our attention on the most severe human rights risks and identify actual or potential risks to stakeholders in our supply chains. Our principal tool for making suppliers aware of what is expected in these guidelines is the Amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, which all new and existing suppliers must sign and also to encourage suppliers to read and implement the amfori BSCI System Manual. From countries which are defined as high risk we also ask suppliers to sign country specific statements which relate to issues such as Responsible Recruitment and Decent Working Conditions (for producers located in Italy or South Africa to mention two examples).

Reducing the environmental impact in the production of wine and spirits
We also encourage and expect our suppliers to implement Best-in-class practices in order to maintain biodiversity and to reduce the impact of their production on the environment by focusing on reducing climate gas emissions, the use of chemicals and pesticides in the fields, recycling of water and limiting the use of energy. A large number of the producers which we are fortunate to work with already have such systems in place by being certified organic, biodynamic or other environmental standards such as sustainable wine growing in New Zealand which enables us to have a transparent and traceable commitment from our suppliers.
